GOLDEN CITY- Services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Lockwood Christian Church for Wilma “Arlean” Wilhelm, 93, who died Thursday, April 18, 2019, at Freeman West Hospital, surrounded by her family. Burial will be in the IOOF Cemetery in Golden City.

Arrangements are under the direction of Konantz Warden Funeral Home, Lamar.

Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the IOOF Cemetery, in care of the funeral home.

Survivors include three sons, Gary Wilhelm and wife Helen, Golden City, John Wilhelm and wife Rhonda, Stockton and Steven Wilhelm and wife Jill, Lamar; three daughters, Juanita Seela and husband Marvin, Carl Junction, Bonnie Hayden, Golden City and LaNita Hackney and husband Craig, Lockwood; eight grandsons, Mark Seela and wife Jeannie, Matthew Hayden and wife Tonya, Dustin Hayden, Jarrod Wilhelm, Aaron Wilhelm, Jacob Wilhelm and wife Emily, Briar Wilhelm and Ben Wilhelm; four granddaughters, Crystal Patterson and husband Nick, Angela Vaughn and husband Tavis, Kate Hackney and Jolean Hackney; nine great-grandchildren and nephews and nieces too numerous to mention.

She was preceded in death by her husband on May 26, 2001; a daughter, Mary Arlean Wilhelm and a son-in-law, Larry Hayden.

Mrs. Wilhelm was born Jan. 27, 1926, in a log cabin in Milford, to Thomas Ario and Mary Lee (Brewer) Moore. She moved to Kansas at age three, where she attended a one-room school house in Arvonia, completing the eighth grade. At age 19, while attending the Sheldon Picnic, she met Wilburn Wilhelm, a young Barton County farmer. They were married Jan. 27, 1945, in Girard, Kan. and settled in Golden City where they reared their family.

Mrs. Wilhelm was active in the Golden City Christian Church and in her community. She volunteered at the local school and was a 4-H club leader for 26 years, teaching sewing, cooking, gardening and how to care for children and give a family a good home environment. She was a chicken collector and a poet.
