LAMAR- A family graveside service will be held later this summer at Liberal City Cemetery for Stella Mae (Sorenson) Spencer, 89, who died Friday, April 24, 2019. The service will be for both Mrs. Spencer and her husband, Lloyd Spencer.

Arrangements are under the direction of Konantz Warden Funeral Home.

Survivors include three daughters, Carol Finley and husband Brian, Papillion, Neb.; Vicki Hemley and husband Tony, Overland Park, Kan. and Nancy Hopkins and husband Bob, Independence; eight grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Lloyd Spencer; a daughter, Linda Charlene Spencer; a brother, Jack Sorenson and a great-granddaughter, Harley Jeanne Combs.

Mrs. Spencer was born Dec. 24, 1929, in Liberal, to Hattie Lucille (Palmer) and Charles Allen Sorenson.

After high school she attended nursing school and became an RN. During her career as an RN, in both Wichita, Kan. and Kansas City, Mo., she practiced her nursing skills in public health arenas, the hospitals and the public school system.

She was active in the Methodist Church and in her community during her retirement years in Lamar.

She married Lloyd V. Spencer on Sept. 10, 1950. He preceded her in death.
