LAMAR- Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Daniel Funeral Home for Evelyn Johnston, 87, Lamar, who died Tuesday, May 14, 2019, at Truman Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Lamar. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 10 am. until service time on Friday, at the funeral home.

Contributions are suggested to and made payable to Cornerstone Baptist Church or St. Jude Childrens Hospital, in care of the funeral home.

Survivors include her husband, Gailand, of the home; a son, Gailand Johnston and wife Bonnie, Lamar; two daughters, Patty Batcheler, Lamar and Lisa McAtee and husband Randy, Girard, Kan.; one sister, Louise Loveall; eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, Melvin Loveall, Tommy Loveall, Kenneth Loveall and Lloyd Loveall; three sisters, Mary Jo Parrish, Willie Lloyd and Jane Kibler; a daughter, Tina Clemons in 2008 and a son-in-law, Dennis Batcheler, in 2018.

Mrs. Johnston was born June 29, 1931, in Rural Barton County, to William and Alice (Dobbs) Loveall. She attended school in El Dorado Springs and on February 19, 1951, she married Gailand Wayne Johnston in Arkansas.

She was a homemaker and had worked as an elevator operator at the Muehlebach Hotel in Kansas City. She enjoyed playing cards, listening to music, dancing, painting, sewing, canning and spending lots of time with her grandkids.
