GOLDEN CITY- Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Daniel Funeral Home in Lamar for Kenneth Darvin Bentlage, 92, Golden City, who died Wednesday, May 22, 2019, at his home. Burial will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Golden City.

The family will receive friends prior to the service time on Friday, beginning at 10 a.m.

Contributions are suggested and made payable to Lamar VFW Post No. 3691, in care of the funeral home.

Survivors include a son and his wife, Darvin and Tish Bentlage, Golden City; a daughter, Debra Bentlage, Golden City; three grandchildren, Larry Helmer and wife Ericka, Julia Berg and husband Richard and Crystal Bentlage; seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lala Bentlage; one brother, Alvin Bentlage and one sister, Melba Springgate.

Mr. Bentlage was born Sept. 5, 1926, in Bland, to Christopher H. and Anna Marie (Giedinghagen) Bentlage. He graduated from Golden City High School in the class of 1945 and served his country in the United States Army. He married Lala Mae Kinser on June 26, 1949, at the Lamar United Methodist Church.

Mr. Bentlage was a cattle and crop farmer and a member of the Golden City United Methodist Board, where he served as the president of the board of trustees. He was also on the county board of the Agricultural Soil Conservation Service (ASCS), as well as the Rural Water District No. 1. He enjoyed tractor pulling, as well as playing the guitar and fiddle.
