Lamar Democrat/Melody Metzger Paul W. Bass, a retired educator and minister from Willard, held a book signing for his two books, “Missouri Innovators - Famous (and Infamous) Missourians Who Led the Way in Their Field” and “The History of Fort Leonard Wood Missouri”, at the Mary K. Finley Library in Lamar, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., on Saturday, July 13. Since penning the book on Missouri innovators, Bass has been asked to do Kentucky, which is now being edited, as well as Oklahoma, Kansas and Arkansas. Copies of the two books that Bass was promoting can be checked out at the library.

Lamar Democrat/Melody Metzger The First Baptist Church stepped outside of its walls on Sunday morning, as members of the congregation, along with others from the community, gathered at the Wyatt Earp Park in order to worship the Lord. Music sheets were handed out to those attending, with the church’s worship leader Steve Livingston and the Praise Band from the church leading in the music. Dr. Robert Hodson, senior pastor at the church, shared the sermon. According to Ron Sandberg and Ed Patterson, a total of 198 were in attendance on this beautiful day.
