LAMAR- Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, at Daniel Funeral Home, for William “Bill” Robert O’Brien, Jr, 62, Lamar, who died Friday, Aug. 30, 2019, at Freeman Hospital West, after suffering a heart attack.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home.

Survivors include his wife Karen; a son, William “Billy” Robert O’Brien III, Lamar; two stepsons, David Sullivan and wife Andrea, Republic and Brad Wilson and wife Megan, Monett; a stepdaughter, Amber Wilson and husband Tony, Peculiar; one brother, Charlie Mattox, Lamar and 13 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Sr. and Verneta O’Brien; three sisters, Vernell McPheater, Linda Bundy and Jeannie Workman and a granddaughter, Olivia Didway.

Mr. O’Brien was born Sept. 5, 1956, in St. Joseph, to William Robert O’Brien Sr. and Verneta Alice (Johnson) O’Brien. He was a 1974 graduate of Lamar High School. He married Karen Lee Wilson on Feb. 14, 2004, in Nevada.

He had worked at O’Sullivan Industries for over 31 years in edgebanding and finished in the engineering office, worked six years at General Mills in Joplin and most recently was in maintenance at the Lamar Walmart. He enjoyed fishing and Lamar Tiger football, but his grandkids brought him the greatest joy.
