This is a deadfall trigger, showing how it is used, with a large rock or weighted wood box set on top of it and bait tied to the end of the trigger. The trigger is easy to make and it is easy to set up. In woodland, the path of armadillos is easily seen because of the way they feed through the leaves, leaving shallow tunnels. They seldom are caught in any trap, but these deadfalls with the right bait are impossible for them to pass up. Same goes for possums and skunks. Skunks killed by deadfalls do not spray; all small predators are killed instantly in sufficiently set deadfalls.
