GOLDEN CITY- A private family graveside service will be held at a later date at Maple Grove Cemetery for Gentry A. French, 73, Golden City, who died Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2019, at the Good Shepherd Community Care and Rehabilitation Facility.

Arrangements are under the direction of Greenfield Funeral Chapel.

Survivors include his daughter, Genna M. French; a son-in-law, Thomas S. Dart and his grandson, Nathaniel Dart, Golden City.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George Edward and Mary (Hale) French and his wife, Jacqueline K. (Harrell) French.

Rawlings Crane & Fabrication has been busy installing the new screen at the Barco Drive-In. This photo from Thursday morning shows both wings in place. The material for the screen will be installed late next week and hopefully, after some tweaking, the Barco will open May 3.

At the April 15 meeting of the Lamar City Council, Lamar resident Rocky McCulloch invited councilmen and the city administrator to take a tour of the pool facilities on Thursday, April 18, as Mason Banes with KC Gunite was going to do a walk through to see what repairs might entail. Several showed up to view the pools, as well as to hear possible solutions. Banes explained that he had to first find out if the damage was structural or plumbing related. Elaine McCulloch noted that hopes are to retain the outdoor lap pool and to redo the indoor pool so that it could serve as a children’s pool following the removal of the enclosure. Banes is to let the McCullochs, as well as the city, know what he would recommend and the cost it would entail.
