CARTHAGE- Services will be held at 4 p.m. Friday, Jan. 3, 2020, at Daniel Funeral Home in Lamar for Dwyte Samuel Rea, 27, Carthage, formerly of Lamar, who died Monday, Dec. 23, 2019 at University Hospital of Columbia.

The family will receive friends at 3:30 p.m., prior to the service.

Serving the family is Rea Funeral Chapel, Sedalia.

Survivors include three brothers, Keith Rea, Lamar, Gregory Rea, Lamar and Archer Rea, Nowata, Okla.; one sister, Arietta Rea, Nowata, Okla; five uncles, John Rea, Darrell Rea, Brian King, Todd King and Christopher Benter; seven aunts, Lavinia Rea, Beverly Hagins, Charlette Griffitt, Peggy Blanchard, Stacy Endicott, Angela Moreno and Cassandra Reilly; maternal grandparents, Greg and Karen Hardy, Liberal and Nona Benter, Liberal and numerous cousins.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Charles and Margaret Rea.

Mr. Rea was born Nov. 27, 1992, in Phoenix, Ariz., to David Rea, Nowata, Okla. and Kimberly Hardy, Liberal.

Lamar Democrat/Melody Metzger At the April 15 meeting of the Lamar City Council, Lamar resident Rocky McCulloch invited councilmen and the city administrator to take a tour of the pool facilities on Thursday, April 18, as Mason Banes with KC Gunite was going to do a walk through to see what repairs might entail. Several showed up to view the pools, as well as to hear possible solutions. Banes explained that he had to first find out if the damage was structural or plumbing related. Elaine McCulloch noted that hopes are to retain the outdoor lap pool and to redo the indoor pool so that it could serve as a children’s pool following the removal of the enclosure. Banes is to let the McCullochs, as well as the city, know what he would recommend and the cost it would entail.

Lamar Democrat/Melody Metzger A total of $3600 was raised at the car and jeep show held Saturday, April 13, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., in the Lamar Christian Church Parking lot, with proceeds to benefit the new Barco Drive-In screen tower.
