Ninth grade Lamar Tigers earn spot in championship The ninth grade Tigers competed in the Mt. Vernon Freshmen Boys Basketball Tournament during the week of January 13. Lamar defeated Monett and Strafford, earning them a spot in the championship game against Springfield-Catholic. In a hard-fought battle, the contest was not decided until the final minute of play with the Tigers ultimately falling 38-43. The SW Select basketball team ended their season by winning the Kansas State Championship with a record of 21-1 in three tournaments, plus Kansas State.
