JASPER- Visitation will be held from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday at Weng Funeral Chapel in Jasper for Dora “Marie” Wilson, 103, who died Friday, Feb. 14, 2020, at Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Lockwood. Graveside services will follow at 3 p.m., at Mitchell Cemetery, east of Jasper.

Memorial donations may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or Mitchell Cemetery, through the funeral chapel.

Survivors include a daughter, Rosa Cunningham, Jasper; three grandchildren, Vicky Ulmer and husband Jim, Jasper, Ronnie Cunningham and wife Lisa, Lamar and Paula Covey and husband Heath, Carthage; seven great-grandchildren, Kristina Forst and husband David, Lamar, Julee Watts and husband Brad, Joplin, Samantha Pennell, Lamar, Drew Cunningham and wife Sydney, Ozark, Rylee Cunningham, Pittsburg, Kan., Cody Covey and wife Kelsey, Carthage and Courtney Tidball and husband Tyler, Jasper; 11 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Edna “Jane” Haden; a brother, Steven Vernon Ely, Jr. and a son-in-law, Jerrold Cunningham.

Mrs. Wilson was born Aug. 4, 1916, n a farm near Elk City, Okla., to Steven Vernon and Cora Ely. She attended Merritt School, graduating in 1934. On August 3, 1935, she married Virgil Lee Wilson in the preacher’s home in Beckham County, Okla. While in Oklahoma she was a homemaker and cafeteria cook at Merritt School. After moving to Cave Springs, Ark. in 1952, she worked at a poultry plant near Bentonville, Ark. In 1960 she moved to Springdale, Ark. and was a homemaker in a new home built by her husband. In December of 1996, she moved to Jasper, Mo. to be closer to her daughter.

She was a member of Prairie View Baptist Church in Oklahoma and attended Jasper Baptist Church until she was 100 years old.
