Rotary Club learns about The Fifteen Percent

Lamar Democrat/Melissa Little Kathy Miller, along with her husband Keith Miller, took on the task of addressing food insecurity in Liberal, one meal at a time. Kathy was the guest presenter at the Lamar Rotary Club on Tuesday, March 3, and told how food insecurity had played a part in her life and how she and her husband took on the mission of feeding the homeless in Liberal. They are currently serving meals on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursday, with deliveries beginning at around 5:30 p.m. Their main emphasis began with feeding children and they currently feed 58, having extended to other citizens in the community, feeding 38 senior citizens and 42 medium age adults. The monument will recognize veterans that made a significant difference while serving in the armed services. Shiloh Wilkinson, daughter of TJ and Melissa Wilkinson, is the sixth grade Lamar Middle School Student of the Week. Shiloh enjoys drawing and reading in her spare time. She plans on playing volleyball or basketball next year. Her favorite subjects are Social Studies and Reading, because both teachers make it a lot of fun while they teach.
