Update on bomb threat arrests

Warrants have been issued for Jason Gates and Terrie Walker for making Terroristic Threats in the 1st degree. No bond has been placed on the warrants. A third arrest has also been made in connection with the crime. Larry C. Gates, 42, Lamar, has also been arrested. Charges have been sent to the Barton County Prosecutor for review for the same crime.

Drone photo by Joe Davis Rawlings Crane & Fabrication has been busy installing the new screen at the Barco Drive-In. This photo from Thursday morning shows both wings in place. The material for the screen will be installed late next week and hopefully, after some tweaking, the Barco will open May 3.

Lamar Democrat/Melody Metzger At the April 15 meeting of the Lamar City Council, Lamar resident Rocky McCulloch invited councilmen and the city administrator to take a tour of the pool facilities on Thursday, April 18, as Mason Banes with KC Gunite was going to do a walk through to see what repairs might entail. Several showed up to view the pools, as well as to hear possible solutions. Banes explained that he had to first find out if the damage was structural or plumbing related. Elaine McCulloch noted that hopes are to retain the outdoor lap pool and to redo the indoor pool so that it could serve as a children’s pool following the removal of the enclosure. Banes is to let the McCullochs, as well as the city, know what he would recommend and the cost it would entail.
