Lamar Democrat/Melody Metzger Back in September of 2016 Barton County Sheriff Mitchell Shaw contacted HMN Architects out of Overland Park, Kan., regarding the issue of repairing the existing jail, as opposed to having a new jail built. HMN architects Senior Associate Shawn Harding stated that “Barton County has made good use of a facility that has outlived its purpose”. The conditions and safety involved is detrimental to both inmates and jail personnel alike.
