LHS girls swim team concludes regular season

The LHS girls swim team concluded their regular season at Southwest Championships on February 5 and 6. The Lady Tigers finished 10th in the Varsity division out of 24 teams behind the scoring power of Meghan Watson, Kaitlyn Davis, Emma Tennal and Audrey Osterdyk. The top six finishers after Friday preliminaries advanced in the “A” Championship Finals. The next six competed in the “B” Consolation Finals, while the final six were in the “C” Bonus Finals. All four Lamar swimmers advanced to Saturday’s Varsity Finals. The JV squad, consisting of Nevaeh Jones, Kiersten Potter and Quenlyn Shaver competed in timed finals on Saturday morning. The 200 yard medley relay finished sixth in the “A” Final. Watson swam in the “A” Final in both of her individual events, medaling third in the 100 yard butterfly, with an automatic State qualifying time, and fourth in the 100 yard backstroke. Davis had two events in the “B” Finals, claiming third in the 200 yard freestyle for an overall ninth place finish and first in the 100 yard freestyle, with a lifetime PR, for an overall seventh place finish. Tennal sprinted to second in her “B” Final, finishing 10th overall in the 100 yard breaststroke. Osterdyk took fourth in her “C” Final in the 200 yard IM for a 16th place finish and sixth in her “C” Final in the 100 yard breaststroke for an 18th place finish. The 400 yard freestyle relay moved up a spot from prelims to place fifth in their “B” Final, finishing 11th overall. Southwest Missouri Senior swimmers were also recognized in a special ceremony.
