COVID update

September 13, 2021

According to Barton County Health Department Director Joel Dermott, last week was a good one regarding the COVID count, as compared to just a few weeks ago. He noted that the numbers appear to have stabilized and the overall trend is now heading down.

No increase in numbers have been seen from the fair, or from the beginning of school, and Dermott noted that the schools continue to remain very diligent in staying on top of positive cases and close contact exposure.

The state did release three more deaths over the weekend, bringing Barton County’s official total to 22.

The current total COVID case count sits at 1417, with 13 active and 1382 recovered. As noted above, there have been 22 deaths to date. The new cases this past week (seven days) shows 16.
