COVID update

January 24, 2022

“It was another wild COVID week, with cases continuing to expand,” said Barton County Health Department Administrator Joel Dermott. He added, “We are seeing new records set for daily and weekly positive cases.” However, according to Dermott, there are some peripheral indicators that show Barton County may be nearing the peak. He said, “Let’s hope those trends continue and we begin to see a show down in cases.” Only time will be the true determinant.

Two more confirmed deaths were reported in the county, bringing the total to 36 for the pandemic.

To date Barton County shows a total confirmed count of 1964 with 477 probably cases, 99 active, 36 confirmed deaths, eight probable deaths and 2298 recovered. As stated above, the total number of cases for the past seven days has soared to 163.
