JAY DWIGHT MILLER

LAMAR- Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Daniel Funeral Home for Jay Dwight Miller, 89, Lamar, who died Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2022, at Truman Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens.
A visitation will be held prior to the service, beginning at 10:30 a.m.
Contributions are suggested and made payable to the Alzheimer's Association, in care of the funeral home.

Survivors include his wife, Sharon Miller, Lamar; two sons, Jeff Miller, Rancho Cordova, Calif. and Mike Miller and wife Kristi, Vancouver, Wash.; two grandchildren, Kevin Miller, Folsom, Calif. and Cody Miller and wife Jenny, Oceanside, Calif.; one great-grandchild, Reese Miller, Folsom, Calif.; one brother, Russell Miller, Redding, Calif.; a brother and sister-in-laws, John and Marilyn Moore and Patty and Lynn Bruno, along with many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Lucille Compton and Lestie Harmon and two brothers-in-law.
Mr. Miller was born June 8, 1932, in Winnepeg, Manitoba Canada to Dwight Thomson Miller and Lestie Agnes (Sherwood) Miller. He graduated from Lamar High School in the class of 1951 and then graduated with his bachelor's degree in forestry from Humboldt State University Department of Forestry and Wildland Resources in Arcata, Calif. He married Sharon Lynne Moore on Feb. 2, 1963, in Lamar.
Mr. Miller retired as a district ranger in the U.S. Forest Service in California after 30 years of employment. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1952-1954 and fought in the Korean Conflict. He worked in helicopter maintenance and served aboard the USS Mindoro and the USS Sipan.
