Lamar Democrat/Melody Metzger The graduating seniors from Golden City High School all sat in the front row of the gymnasium as they participated in commencement exercises on Saturday, May 14. The yellow carnations they are holding will be presented by the graduating class to various members in the audience as a means of showing their appreciation. Following the presentation of the class and their diplomas, the students signified their graduation status by switching their tassels to the other side of their mortarboard. Shiloh Wilkinson, daughter of TJ and Melissa Wilkinson, is the sixth grade Lamar Middle School Student of the Week. Shiloh enjoys drawing and reading in her spare time. Lamar Democrat/Melody Metzger A total of $3600 was raised at the car and jeep show held Saturday, April 13, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., in the Lamar Christian Church Parking lot, with proceeds to benefit the new Barco Drive-In screen tower. Pictured are, left to right, Lamar Bank & Trust President Pat O’Neal, Barco Drive-In Theatre fundraiser director Landin Myers and representing the Plaza/Barco and Lamar Community Betterment, Scott Kelley. Anyone wishing to donate can do so at the bank, or drop it by the Plaza Theatre on the south side of the square.
