Lamar Democrat/Melody Metzger Students entered the Golden City High School gym during 2022 commencement exercises held Saturday, May 14. Following the processional, a time of appreciation was taken by students as they handed out yellow carnations to those that had been instrumental in their development throughout their school years. Following the salutatorian address by Caleb Cifuentes and the valedictorian address by Jolee Rector, high school principal Chris Long presented the class as they stood to walk up on stage to receive their diplomas. Following the recessional, graduates gathered at the corner of the gym for the tradition of tossing their caps in the air.

Shiloh Wilkinson, daughter of TJ and Melissa Wilkinson, is the sixth grade Lamar Middle School Student of the Week. Shiloh enjoys drawing and reading in her spare time. She plans on playing volleyball or basketball next year. Her favorite subjects are Social Studies and Reading, because both teachers make it a lot of fun while they teach.

Vintage Vegas makes for a fun evening
Lamar Democrat/Melody Metzger A total of $3600 was raised at the car and jeep show held Saturday, April 13, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., in the Lamar Christian Church Parking lot, with proceeds to benefit the new Barco Drive-In screen tower. Pictured are, left to right, Lamar Bank & Trust President Pat O’Neal, Barco Drive-In Theatre fundraiser director Landin Myers and representing the Plaza/Barco and Lamar Community Betterment, Scott Kelley. Anyone wishing to donate can do so at the bank, or drop it by the Plaza Theatre on the south side of the square.
