LIBERAL- Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Konantz Warden Funeral Home in Lamar for Gary L. Workman, 74, Liberal, who died Sunday, June 12, 2022. Visitation will be held prior to the service, beginning at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Iantha Cemetery.

Donations, in lieu of flowers, can be made to the Iantha Cemetery.

Survivors include his sons, Brett Workman and wife Emily, Liberal and Eric Workman and Shelly Huffine, Liberal; a daughter, Jennifer Workman, Liberal; grandchildren, Zachery Workman, Sheldon, Hayden Workman, Opolis, Kan. and Jayce Workman, Bailey Workman and Wade Workman, all of Liberal; a great-grandson, Waylon Workman, Liberal; his siblings, Bill Workman and wife Bonnie, Liberal and Donna Workman, Joplin; two nieces; one niece and a large extended family.

He was preceded in death by his wife.

Mr. Workman was born May 30, 1948, in Lamar, to Donald and Georgia Lee (Robertson) Workman. He was a 1966 graduate of Liberal High School and married Connie Thompson on Dec. 4, 1971, in Kansas City, Mo. He attended barber college in Kansas City and was a barber there for about five years before moving back to Liberal.

He helped his parents at Workman Paneling and worked for 24 years at Masonite in Pittsburg, Kan. He was an avid quail hunter. He had a good sense of humor and was a little ornery and always had a smile on his face. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren and he will be missed.
