GRANT ALLEN REED

FRONTENAC, KAN.- A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Friskel Funeral Home in Frontenac for Grant Allen Reed, 62, who died unexpectedly on Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2022. A visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, at the funeral home.
Memorial gifts can be made to the S.E.K. Humane Society and may be left at or mailed to the funeral home.

He is survived by his wife, Cathy Reed, of 27 years; his mother, Jean Reed; sisters Rebecca West and Shirley Giacometti and husband Craig, nephew Matthew Ratterree (Sherrie); nieces Lacey Duffin (Clayton), Kylee Feagan (Bryan) and Pamela Marshall, great-nieces and nephews Abbey, Nathan, Hannah, Jordan, Lily, Annabelle and Braxton, Ashley and Brandon.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Reed and his brother John Reed. He was loved and will be missed.
Mr. Reed was born Sept. 17, 1960, in Lamar, Mo., to Nona Jean and Joseph Reed. He grew up on a farm in Iantha, Mo., the youngest of four children. He attended school in Liberal, Mo., until moving to Frontenac, where he spent his high schools years at Frontenac High School. During his college years he played football at Fort Scott Community College and Pittsburg State University.
He married Cathy Summers on July 1, 1995. He was a likable guy and always made you laugh. He loved sports, traveling, fishing and walking at the wilderness park. His last day was spent fishing with two of his friends, Larry and Lee Brunetti.
He was a teacher and a football coach and held several different teaching positions in Kansas and Missouri during his career. He really cared about his job and his students. He had just retired and was looking forward to many things. He volunteered at the chili feed for the Humane Society for many years.
