LEAFORD GREENE

CARTHAGE-Services will be held at 2 p.m.Friday at Park Cemetery in Carthage for Leaford Purl Greene, 81, Carthage, who died Saturday, Jan. 2, 2016, at his home. Military honors will be conducted.

Arrangements are under the direction of Ulmer Funeral Home.

Survivors include his children, David Greene, Debra Greene, Greg Greene and Mike Greene, all of Washington state, Russell Harmon and Shannon Greene, Carthage and Julie Collings, Grove, Okla. and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mr. Greene was born April 21, 1934, in Carthage, to Purl H. Pat and Sylvia (Hoover) Greene. He had lived in Lamar for many years and worked for the City of Lamar and Finley Engineering as a lineman and for the Lamar City Sanitation Department. After moving back to Carthage he drove a truck for Tamko until he retired. In his retirement he worked part time at The Paint Stallion in Joplin. He was a veteran of the Korean War. He was an avid CB'er with the handle of Little Green Giant.
