MARY “KITTY” MEDLIN

CARTHAGE- The family will receive visitors from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 6, at Konantz Warden Funeral Home in Lamar, for Mary Ada Louise “Kitty” Medlin, 93, Carthage, who died Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2022. A graveside funeral service will follow at 1:45 p.m., at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Lamar.
Memorial contributions may be made to Three Rivers Hospice, in care of the funeral home.

Survivors include her children, Threasa Bryant, Carthage and Lewis Medlin and wife Cynthia, Carthage; six grandchildren; six great grandchildren and sisters, Shirley, Gail and Janice.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Jerry Claude Medlin; a brother, William Mitchell; a son-in-law, Cliff Bryant and two great grandchildren, Jaxon Bryant and Baby J Bryant.
Mrs. Medlin was born May 13, 1929, in Eureka, Kan., to Perry and Louise Mitchell. She married the love of her life, Claude Medlin, on June 25, 1947, in Bentonville, Ark.
She loved life and loved to help others. She worked as a nurse at Mt. Carmel in the neonatal nursery and at St. John’s Hospital. She was also the owner and operator of the Lamar Nursing Home for 19 years. She lived in Lamar for 31 years and then in Carthage for 40 years. In Carthage, she worked for Big Smith, Safeway and as a caregiver for people in their homes.
Mrs. Medlin loved life and loved helping others. She was well known, especially for her chicken dinners. She loved her family and was always having get togethers where she enjoyed time with them. She was a talented musician. She played the organ and enjoyed music. She attended the Nazarene Church in Webb City, was a member of the Civil Defense in Carthage and the Rebekah Lodge in Lamar.
