The TigerSharks held its annual team party and awards banquet on July 31, at the Fair Acres YMCA Youth Center in Carthage. The team was treated to pizza (courtesy of Jerry and Lendi Davis), along with numerous side dishes and desserts brought by swim families. Pictured are team members with their sponsor recognition banner, which accompanied them to the various swim competitions they participated in this season. The Lamar swim program has continued to rebuild and grow through the generosity of donations from the surrounding community. Tigers earn 17th straight district crown
Lamar Democrat/Chris Morrow The Lockwood Tigers have secured a district title after earning the one-seed and a first round bye. They defeated Liberal 70-0 in the semifinal and took down Greenfield 51-8 Friday for the title. They've won 10 in a row after losing their opener to Archie. They will have a chance to avenge that loss Saturday when they travel to Archie. In week one the Whirlwinds won 48-38. Livestock Field Specialist Dr. Patrick Davis, who serves Barton County University of Missouri Extension, coordinated the Community Safety Net “Rural Safety” Smart Choices for Life held Friday, Nov. 22, at the Golden City Elementary School. Barton County 4-H Program Associate Elaine Davis welcomed a total of 94 Golden City students, PK-5th grade, to the Rural Safety Days.
