JOPLIN-Donald E. Henley Sr. died at his home, surrounded by family, on Friday, Jan. 29, 2016.

Survivors include his wife, Pansy; three children, Sheila McClellan, Starke, Fla., David Henley, Springfield and Don Henley Jr., Webb City; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Mr. Henley was born Aug. 27, 1926, to Charles and Blanche Henley. He was the fourth child of seven. His mother died when he was seven and he and his siblings were placed in the Missouri Baptist Children's Home in St. Louis. He was later placed in the home of Ben and Lucy Veale, in Iantha.

He joined the Navy during World War II, having served in the Pacific. Upon discharge he married Pansy Reddish in 1947. They were happily married for 69 years.

He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed making a living by ranching in Bronaugh and Jerico Springs. He was a well respected cattle buyer for many years.
