Tigers are victorious over Big 8 West opponent

Filling in for injured Alex Wilkerson, Torbeck did a good job in his first varsity start, running for about 130 yards. The Tigers will host Seneca Friday evening in a game that could decide the Big 8 West championship. The Tigers are rated No. 1 in Class 2, while the Indians are rated No. 3 in Class 3. Both teams are 3-0, with Seneca holding their three opponents scoreless. Come out to Thomas M. O'Sullivan Stadium and cheer the Tigers on to victory.

The Lamar sixth grade youth football team played a hard fought battle against Carthage White, in Carthage, on Saturday, Oct 5. The score stood at 0-0 until the top of the fourth quarter, than ended the fourth quarter tied at 6-6. Going into overtime, the Tigers tried to score four times and just couldn’t come up with a touchdown. Carthage White then ended the game on their fourth try, going ahead by a score of 12-6. The final game, prior to the Super Bowl, will be held Saturday, Oct. 12, against the Tigers of Nevada.

Lamar Democrat/Melody Metzger The Jasper Eagle’s homecoming was held Friday, Oct. 4, with the theme being “Lights, Camera, Homecoming”. Coronation ceremonies were held prior to the football game against the Greenfield Wildcats. Being crowned queen was senior Paige Sentlinger, with senior Brady Sisseck being crowned king.

Lamar Democrat/Melody Metzger Senior Elizabeth Renfro, a Golden City Lady Eagle and homecoming candidate, was crowned queen during ceremonies held Friday evening, Oct. 4. Her escort, junior Spencer Parrill, was crowned king. Crown and sash bearers were Willow Renfro and David Walters. Also pictured were other candidates, senior Reese Moore, senior Tyra Menadue, senior Jessie Yardley, senior Hunter Taylor, senor Nathan Weiser and junior Madison Menadue. The coronation was held prior to the games.

Thanks to this award, Roby will be able to add even more real-life projects to her life skills math class. Metzger’s Mutterings
Photo by Barton County Chamber of Commerce/Kristy Robertson It was a warm but pleasant day as many took the opportunity to visit the Wyatt Earp FallFest that was held at the Wyatt Earp Park on the northeast side of the Lamar square on Saturday, Oct. 5. Festivities continued throughout the day including vendors, food trucks, wild west reenactments, western music, a baby and toddler show and dog show, along with a lip sync showdown and a speech by Wyatt Earp himself. The day was deemed a success with many already looking forward to next year. The event is put on by the Barton County Chamber of Commerce with much help from the community.
