LHS Class of 1965 donates to library

Lamar Democrat/Melody Metzger Members of the Lamar High School Class of 1965 took up a generous collection recently, with proceeds being presented to Barton County Library Director Carol Darrow at the Mary K. Finley Library in Lamar on Friday morning, Sept. 15. Planning for the reunion was made possible with help from the library and this a way that the class could show their appreciation. Pictured is class member Jill Pugh presenting the check to Darrow. Also instrumental in helping with the planning was LaMalva (Potter) Keithly.

Photo by Barton County Chamber of Commerce/Kristy Robertson It was a warm but pleasant day as many took the opportunity to visit the Wyatt Earp FallFest that was held at the Wyatt Earp Park on the northeast side of the Lamar square on Saturday, Oct. 5. Festivities continued throughout the day including vendors, food trucks, wild west reenactments, western music, a baby and toddler show and dog show, along with a lip sync showdown and a speech by Wyatt Earp himself. The day was deemed a success with many already looking forward to next year. The event is put on by the Barton County Chamber of Commerce with much help from the community.
