Picnic in the Park offers variety

Lamar’s Picnic in the Park is being held Thursday, Sept. 28, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., at the Lamar City Park. Food trucks that are available to serve the public include Haile Yeah BBQ, SongBird’s Kitchen, Prime Cut, Old School Smoking LLC and Ghetto Tacos. The next Picnic in the Park will be held Thursday, Oct. 26. This will be the last Picnic in the Park for this year. Be sure to watch for their return next spring. Lamar Democrat/Melody Metzger Ground was broken on Friday, May 2, for the Golden City School Farm. Prior to the groundbreaking, those speaking were, left to right, Caleb Hughes, Robby Stafford, Ag teacher Michael Lee and Golden City School Superintendent Dennis Kimzey. Following the presentation of a grant by Arvest Bank and recognition given by Kimzey, Lee and Stafford, members of the school board and FFA members joined in to celebrate the new school farm. Stafford was this year’s FFA president, with Hughes being inducted as the next president during their banquet held later that evening.

Lucas Garfield, son of Ben and Da'Lacey Garfield, is the sixth grade Lamar Middle School Student of the Week. His favorite sport is golf. His favorite subject is Social Studies, because of Mr. Castle. Lucas likes playing Fortnite, playing with friends and going to Florida.
