Photo by Kristy Robertson, Barton County Chamber of Commerce A park dedication and ribbon cutting of the newly completed and beautiful Wyatt Earp Park was held by the Barton County Chamber of Commerce prior to the Wyatt Earp Fallfest that took place on Saturday, Oct. 7. The park is located on the northeast corner of the Lamar square and is a sight to behold. Be sure to stop by and see this amazing transformation.

Lamar Middle School’s first ever softball team finished their season 12-1, earning Big 8 Conference Softball Champs 2024-25. The team outscored their opponents 142-21. This is the seventh grade girls third conference title this year, having earned the title in volleyball, basketball and softball. They also won three tournaments, one in each sport. Safety First was the focus of the Community Safety Net “Rural Safety” program, where Liberal third grade students evaluated what they had learned and enjoyed by creating posters. Barton County 4-H hosted a poster contest in conjunction with the program. Winners in the contest were, pictured left to right, Kael Myers, Maci Hoffman and Dax Wolf. Posters shared topics on animal safety, water safety, grain bin safety, ATV safety and fire safety. A special thank you is extended to Teri Harrison, third grade teacher and the Liberal FFA Leadership team for making it a special day for all of the students.

Lamar Democrat/Chris Morrow The Liberal Bulldogs came into the Class 1 District 6 tournament at home as the number two seed. They defeated New Heights 16-0 in the first round and here senior pitcher Jordan Goodell fires a pitch during the 7-2 win over Jasper in the semifinal. Playing first base is Ava Garrett. The Lady Bulldogs dropped the championship game 2-1 to top-seeded Lockwood Thursday.
