LYNDELL L. “PETE” HURT

LAMAR- A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, at Lake Cemetery in Lamar, for Lyndell L. “Pete” Hurt, 88, Lamar, who died Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2023, in the early morning hours at St. Luke’s in Carthage, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, at Daniel Funeral Home.
Contributions are suggested and made payable to the Alzheimer's Association, in care of the funeral home.

Survivors include three children, Cindy Jack and husband Michael, Joplin, Russ Hurt and wife Suzanne, Lamar and Beth Shoff, Mt. Vernon; 10 grandchildren, Chris Jack, Jeff Jack, Jeremiah Jack, Douglas Jack, Ryan Hurt, Chase Hurt, Brooke Booker, Blake Westbrooke, Kyler Shoff and Kaden Shoff; 23 great-grandchildren; one brother, Larry Hurt; three sisters, Wanda Webb and husband John, Veda Thieman and Marilyn Marshall, along with many loving family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Judy; one sister, Vesta Jennings and two brothers-in-law, Ozzie Thieman and Wayne Marshall.
Mr. Hurt was born May 30, 1935, in Greenfield, to Loren and Edith (Daughtery) Hurt. He married Judith Ann Wills on Aug. 26, 1956, in Greenfield. They were married nearly 60 years before her death in November of 2015. He lovingly cared for her for 15 years after her stroke in 2000.
He worked at Finley Engineering in Lamar for over 20 years before becoming the general manager of Craw Kan Telephone Cooperative, from which he retired from in 1996. He loved playing tennis, gardening, polka music and spending time with his family. He was a member of the Lamar First Christian Church, where he was involved in many areas over the years.
