ROBERT “BOB” WITT

LAMAR-Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Konantz Warden Funeral Home for Robert “Bob” Forrest Witt, 86, Lamar, who died Thursday, Dec. 7, 2023.

A visitation will be held prior to the service, beginning at 10 a.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to Gentiva Hospice or First Christian Church, in care of the funeral home.

Survivors include his wife Aida; children, Kyle Witt, Liberty, Dana Witt, California, Leonel Hurst and wife Shayna, Olathe, Kan. and grandchildren, Devyn Witt, Savannah Tierney, Brayden Hurst, Sophia Hurst and Ellery Hurst. He is also survived by his siblings, Darlene Brown, Kansas City, Mo. and Jerry Witt and wife Linda, Gladstone and many nieces, nephews and other family members.

Mr. Witt was born Sept. 25, 1937, in Windsor, to Forrest and Geneva (Sampson) Witt. He was a 1955 graduate of East High School in Kansas City, Mo. He joined the Army in 1957. He had some college and the military recognized his potential, so they sent him back to Park College in Kansas City, Mo., where he graduated with a Business Administration and Economics degree. He remained in the Army where he did several jobs and lived in many different places before retiring as a Major in 1980.

After military service he worked for Industrial High-Risk Insurers in San Francisco, Calif. for 17 years. He retired again, but found he needed something to do so he worked as a mail carrier for about three years in Suisun City, Calif. He moved to Kansas City, Mo. for a few years until 2008, when he moved closer to help and care for his mother in Lamar. His mother introduced him to the love of his life, Aida, and they married on April 25, 2009. He enjoyed reading and traveling. Together, he and Aida, traveled far and near, taking several cruises and many long drives around the country.
