GOLDEN CITY- A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 2, at Mount Carmel Cemetery for Gregory Lee McDonald, 69, Golden City, who died Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2024.

Arrangements are under the direction of Konantz Warden Funeral Home, Lamar.

Survivors include his wife, Renae McDonald of the home; children, Micah McDonald and wife Shawnda, Golden City, Mitch McDonald and wife Tasha, Lamar and Michelle Miller and husband Chase, Jasper; grandchildren, Madison, Tristin, Cloe, Mason and Marissa; step grandchildren, Desiree and Tayton and great grandchildren, Myla, Ava and Mathieu. He is also survived by his siblings, Jill Peters and husband Dan, Lamar, Jayne Babbitt, Smithville and Todd McDonald and wife Cathy, Lamar and his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Dick Gilliam and wife Sue, Dewey, Ariz., Loretta Adkins and husband Charlie, Apopka, Fla. and Greg Gilliam and wife Cheri, Monett.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Clarabell McDonald; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Marvin and Violet Gilliam and a brother-in-law, Mike Babbitt.

Mr. McDonald was born in Lamar to Claude and Clarabell (Leivan) McDonald. He was a 1972 graduate of Golden City High School. He married Renae Gilliam on June 12, 1976, at Lamar Assembly of God.

He worked as a farmer after high school and worked in several other places including the Golden City Foundry, O’Sullivan Industries, Thorco, Sprouls Construction and Grubaugh Construction. He enjoyed participating in tractor pulls, water skiing, scuba diving and anything to do with a boat. He enjoyed deer hunting, anything Corvette and collected Hot Wheels. He was a hard-working man who was always doing something. If he was not working to get paid, he was working at home. He is loved dearly by his family and will be missed.
