GREENFIELD-Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Greenfield Funeral Chapel for Wayne Spain, 78, Greenfield, who died Wednesday, April 29, 2015, at his home. Burial will be in Kings Point Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, at the funeral chapel.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Kings Point Cemetery or the Dade County R-4 Rural Fire Protection District.

Survivors include his wife, Deloris Ann Spain; three sons, Kerry Wayne Spain and wife Cindy, Melvin Keith Spain and wife Sharon and Kevin Warren Spain and wife Sheila; his mother, Velma Leigh Spain; two brothers, Ellis Leroy Spain and Carl Neal Spain; a sister, Andrea Renee Cross; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ellis Warren Spain and a sister, Mary Louise Houston.

Mr. Spain was born Oct. 21, 1936, in South Greenfield, to Ellis Warren and Velma Leigh (Mohwinkle) Spain. He was a 1955 graduate of Lockwood High School. He served as the sheriff for Dade County for 16 continuous years. He was a member of the Missouri Retired Sheriff's Association.

He married Deloris Ann Sorden on May 20, 1956, at the Bethlehem Baptist Church in Lockwood.
