Barton County 4-H members attended the State 4-H Teen Conference held May 27 and 28. The theme for this year’s conference was “CSI: Communicate, Serve, Inspire” as State 4-H week was observed May 27-31.

Photos courtesy of Cecil Fyock The Lamar 8 Second Chute Out Bullriding Nationals delighted those attending on Friday and Saturday evenings, June 6 and 7, at The Stompin’ Grounds in Lamar. Thirty-eight riders, competing on 42 bulls for a total of 77 rides over the two nights of the show, excited the spectators with heart pounding action. Participants were from as far away as Brazil, Mexico and El Salvador, with several being from the United States.

Lamar Democrat/Melody Metzger Lamar Bank & Trust celebrated with it’s many loyal customers as they served a “good ole’ Metro BBQ” choice of chicken or sausage to those attending. The event was held Wednesday, June 4, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., across the street from the bank at the Wyatt Earp Park. Tables had been set up at the park for those staying to eat, while a station was also available for those wishing to take their meal home. Also given away were their very popular t-shirts, along with some “swag” items and a station was set up for those entering to win four tickets to a Stompin’ Grounds event. LBT employees worked diligently throughout the evening, ensuring that everyone was taken care of and guaranteed a good time.
