SPRINGFIELD-Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday, at Daniel Funeral Home in Lamar for Alberta Irene Greer, 97, Springfield, who died early Monday morning, May 16, 2016, at Brookhaven Health and Rehabilitation Center. A private family burial ceremony will be held at Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Contributions may be made to charity of donor's choice.

Survivors include one granddaughter, Babette Greer-Farrar, Springfield; a great-granddaughter, Halle Greer-Farrar; a sister-in-law, Velma Goodrum, Lamar; three nieces, one nephew and several great nieces, great nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Archie; a son, Larry Greer in February of 1994 and two brothers, Daniel Goodrum and James Elwood Goodrum.

Mrs. Greer was born Dec. 30, 1918, at Garden City, to James Auterbein and Alva Irene (Hough) Goodrum. After graduating high school she married Archie Leonard Greer on Jan. 11, 1941. She was a retired assembly line worker at O'Sullivan Industries and she was a Christian.

The material for the screen will be installed late next week and hopefully, after some tweaking, the Barco will open May 3.

Lamar Democrat/Melody Metzger At the April 15 meeting of the Lamar City Council, Lamar resident Rocky McCulloch invited councilmen and the city administrator to take a tour of the pool facilities on Thursday, April 18, as Mason Banes with KC Gunite was going to do a walk through to see what repairs might entail. Several showed up to view the pools, as well as to hear possible solutions. Banes explained that he had to first find out if the damage was structural or plumbing related. Elaine McCulloch noted that hopes are to retain the outdoor lap pool and to redo the indoor pool so that it could serve as a children’s pool following the removal of the enclosure. Banes is to let the McCullochs, as well as the city, know what he would recommend and the cost it would entail.
