GOLDEN CITY-A time of remembrance will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 12 noon on Saturday, at Pugh Funeral Home for Clovis Leon Swope, Jr., 76, Golden City, who died at 7:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2016, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin.

Survivors include his four children, Lynn McNamara, Golden City, Tony Swope, Independence, Ed Swope and wife Sandy, Madison, S.D. and Viola Leo and husband Joe, Golden City; two brothers, Robert Swope, Millville and Chuck Swope, Polo; two sisters, Lena K. Jones and husband Kenny, Lincoln, and Glenda Faye Buck, Springfield; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Glen Swope; a daughter-in-law, Tracie Swope and a grandson, Seth.

Mr. Swope was born Feb. 5, 1940, in Brayner, to Clovis Leon Swope Sr. and Salena Margaret (Phillips) Swope. He lived most of his life in Missouri, in the Carthage/Joplin area, and finally in Golden City for the last six years. He had been an OTR truck driver for various businesses for 36 years. His hobby was fishing.

He married Roberta Brockert on Aug. 8, 1959. They had five children. They later divorced.
