STEPHEN B. FUHR

November 21, 2016

LAMAR-Stephen Burhans Fuhr, R.N. passed gracefully on November 16, 2016 surrounded by his loved ones.

Over his life he has consistently done what is right. As a young man he joined the Army in 1967 to fight in Vietnam, becoming Staff Sergeant Stephen B. Fuhr. Known as “Doc”, he worked with the Vietnamese villagers as a combat medic with his Brothers in Arms and received multiple commendations.

He returned home and began his life-long career of learning. Earning Bachelor's Degrees in Psychology and Education, he found his calling as an R.N., working in the healthcare field for more than 30 years. With the help of his beloved colleagues, he initiated programs and services directed towards healing those who could not heal themselves.

A hero, he served his family just as he served his country, with strength, patience and compassion. He welcomed all people as friends, with love and laughter and was actively engaged within his community, seeking to ignite passion and understanding for all.

His extracurricular activity list was extensive and well-rounded, including his love of music, art, nature, travel and most importantly, family. He was a wise man and a kind man. He was a good man and will be greatly missed by all who have experienced the warmth of his smile.

Peace.
