Mr. Haeberle was born April 15, 1931, in Golden City, to Peter B. and Elizabeth Ann (Covert) Haeberle. He was a lifetime resident of the Golden City area and helped his dad in the local telephone exchange and farming. During his high school years his summers were spent with family in Montana, working on their wheat operation. He was a 1949 graduate of Golden City High School. He married Merrill Stratton on March 2, 1952. He served in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954 and after returning from serving, he started farming with his father.

During the years as an area farmer he was also an active and contributing member of the community, being a member on the Board of Directors at the Good Shepherd Nursing Home, Golden City MFA and Dade County Soil and Water. He served his church as a deacon at the Golden City First Christian Church. He aided in providing communion to shut-ins, as well as helping with the Wednesday Night Youth Group as long as his health would allow.

His extended family for the last 2 ½ years was the staff of the Good Shepherd Nursing Home, who made his final days more comfortable.
