Mrs. Norton was born Oct. 8, 1922, in rural Lamar, to Dennis and Flora (Faurot) Holt. She was a 1940 graduate of Lamar High School and following graduation she worked at the ammunition plant in Kansas City for a short time. While in Kansas City she wed her husband of more than 69 years, Wallace Norton, on Nov. 7, 1942. They made their home and farmed in Barton County, where they would have one son, Wally. She would later attend Joplin College, where she received a degree in Accounting. She worked at MFA Lamar as an office manager before moving on to work at Novak, CPA for several years until she retired. She was always an active member of the community and of the Lamar United Methodist Church, until her health declined. Her greatest joy in life was time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
