LIBERAL- A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Hannon Free Will Baptist Church, near Liberal, for James Leroy Cobler, 62, Liberal, who died Saturday, Feb. 18, 2017, at Via Christi Hospital in Pittsburg, Kan.

Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, at the church.

Arrangements are under the direction of Konantz Warden Funeral Home, Lamar.

Survivors include his wife, Donna and their son, Christopher James Cobler and companion Katrina; two grandchildren, Alexandra “Ali” and Ian Cobler; one sister, Etta Hurd and husband Ron; three brothers, Buster Nutter and wife Elaine and Kenny and Carl Nutter; a brother-in-law, Kenny Merriman and wife Liz and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Beverly Merriman.

Mr. Cobler was born Feb. 24, 1954, in Yates Center, Kan., to Lyle and Hazel (Nutter) Cobler. He married Donna Joy VanKirk on April 20, 1973. He was a die supervisor at Peerless Products in Ft. Scott, Kan., where he had worked for more than 40 years. He was an avid sportsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and motorsports. He was a follower of Jesus Christ and a member of the Hannon Free Will Baptist Church.
