Lamar Democrat/Heather Gerths The Barton County Chamber of Commerce and community representatives were present for a ribbon cutting held at Penmac Staffing, located at 208 W. 12th St., Unit 4, in Lamar. The ribbon cutting was held at 12 noon on Tuesday, Feb. 21, following a tour of the very attractive and beneficial office and training facilities. Refreshments were served to those attending. The material for the screen will be installed late next week and hopefully, after some tweaking, the Barco will open May 3.

Lamar Democrat/Melody Metzger At the April 15 meeting of the Lamar City Council, Lamar resident Rocky McCulloch invited councilmen and the city administrator to take a tour of the pool facilities on Thursday, April 18, as Mason Banes with KC Gunite was going to do a walk through to see what repairs might entail. Several showed up to view the pools, as well as to hear possible solutions. Banes explained that he had to first find out if the damage was structural or plumbing related. Elaine McCulloch noted that hopes are to retain the outdoor lap pool and to redo the indoor pool so that it could serve as a children’s pool following the removal of the enclosure. Banes is to let the McCullochs, as well as the city, know what he would recommend and the cost it would entail.
