RAMONA WESSLER

ST. PETERS- A private family service will be held at Daniel Funeral Home for Ramona Mae Wessler, 83, St. Peters, who died Saturday, Feb. 18, 2017, at St. Joseph Hospital in St. Charles. Burial will be in Lake Cemetery.
Contributions are suggested to Mayo Clinic Neurology Research, in care of the funeral home.

Survivors include a brother, Lee Wessler and wife Betty, Springfield; two sisters, LaVeda Wilson, Lamar and Bonnie Wessler, St. Peters; nephews Donald Wilson and wife Joann, Kenneth Wilson, Edwin Wessler and wife Melinda, Chris Wessler, Michael Slamp and wife Laura and Al Slamp; nieces Jeannette Eaves and husband Dana and Carrie Thomas; great nephews and nieces, Rachael Thomas, Hannah Eaves, Alison Slamp, Elizabeth Wessler, Krista Wessler, Samuel Wilson, Gracie Wessler, Michael Slamp and wife Krystal and Matthew Slamp and a great-great-nephew and niece, Nathan Slamp and Alexis Slamp.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Wilbur, Charles and Merlyn Wessler and a nephew, Ron Wilson.
Ms. Wessler was born Oct. 8, 1933, in Hebron, Neb., to Henry John and Laura Remona (Holtzen) Wessler. After graduating from Lamar High School in 1951, she pursued her education in nursing and earned her PhD. She taught at Burge School of Nursing in Springfield and taught in the Oncology Department at St. Louis University before retiring in 1997. She enjoyed quilting and jewelry making, as well as her love for her church where she was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in St. Charles. She had a remarkable sense of humor and was very family oriented.
