LAMAR- Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, at Oakton United Methodist Church for Robert Gene Lawrence Sr., 68, Lamar, who died Wednesday, March 15, 2017, at Barton County Memorial Hospital, after a two-year battle with cancer. Pastor Kent Garfield will officiate. Burial will be in Oakton Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, at Daniel Funeral Home.

Contributions are suggested to Oakton United Methodist Church, in care of the funeral home.

Survivors include two sons, Robert Voyles and wife Jill, Pontotoc, Miss. and Robert Lawrence Jr. and wife Brandy, Lamar; two daughters, Jennifer Fernandez and husband Kenneth Jr., Maui, Hawaii and Carli Moore, Lamar; two brothers, Jasper Hicks, Starkville and David Douglas, Tupelo, Miss.; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Mr. Lawrence was born August 4, 1948, in Kiesar, Ark., to Larry Lawrence and Nora E. (Card) Lawrence. He had worked as a truck driver for many years until his health caused him to retire. He married Linda Sparks and together they had three children. They later divorced. He married Tottie Ford and she died in 2014.

He enjoyed coaching softball, drag racing and go kart racing. He was a member of Oakton United Methodist Church.
