Lamar Democrat/Chris Morrow Sometimes you hit a laser beam and the third baseman makes a diving catch to rob you and sometimes you hit a bleeder and because of hustle you turn it into a hit. That was the case here for Hunter Gepner, who beat this out for a base hit during the Tigers win over East Newton Thursday.

Lamar Tigers dominate Jasper
The junior class at Lamar High School hosted Senior Prom 2024. The event was held Saturday, April 20, 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. at 96 Elite in Oronogo. Prior to the event, family and friends gathered to support their students as they showed off a vide variety of prom wear at the Promenade, held from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., at the Wyatt Earp Park in Lamar.

Lamar Democrat/Nadine Pattison Picnic in the Park drew several despite the rainy and stormy weather that was experienced throughout the day. Several food trucks were available to offer a wide variety of choices to those stopping by to dine. Menus from the various food trucks were listed on the Lamar City Park facebook page, along with their phone number to call for easy access. The next Picnic in the Park will be held Thursday, May 23, for both lunch and dinner, at the Lamar City Park.
