Joe and Betty Lee Roe will celebrate their 70th anniversary on Flag Day, June 14. The couple were married June 14, 1947, at the First Baptist Church in Lamar.

The junior class at Lamar High School hosted Senior Prom 2024. The event was held Saturday, April 20, 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. at 96 Elite in Oronogo. Prior to the event, family and friends gathered to support their students as they showed off a vide variety of prom wear at the Promenade, held from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., at the Wyatt Earp Park in Lamar.

Nevaeh Lafleur, daughter of Jacob Fortner and Samantha Fortner, is the sixth grade Lamar Middle School Student of the Week. Nevaeh loves art and music. Her favorite kind of art is oil pastels. She has a calf, lizard, two dogs and four ducks. Her favorite subjects are Science and Math.

Lamar Democrat/Nadine Pattison The Lamar Tiger Brotherhood held their 9th State Championship ring ceremony on Wednesday, May 1. Head Coach Jared Beshore began the night with an introduction to the evening's special guest, Ned Reynolds. The legendary sportscaster and Missouri Broadcast Hall of Famer gave an encouraging opening ceremony speech that favored the Lamar Tigers and their one of a kind football program. It was a special night for the Brotherhood as a whole, but for the senior players it was extraordinary. The 2023 State Championship win is their second, making their high school careers end with two state championship rings (2020 and 2023).
