FLOYD C. LEE

LAMAR- A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, at Morehead Cemetery for Floyd C. Lee, 76, Lamar, who died Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2017, at Barton County Memorial Hospital.

Arrangements are under the direction of Daniel Funeral Home.

Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home.

Contributions are suggested to the VA, in care of the funeral home.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara; two sons, Wesley Lee and partner Karen Carroll and Floyd Lee Jr. and wife Zackarae and two daughters, Danita Vangilder and partner Harold Rogers and Lucinda Loveall, all of Lamar; 13 grandchildren, Dominique Lee, Tabitha Baker, Heather Anderson, Michael Lee, Dylan Vangilder, Slater Vangilder, Carlee Vangilder, Danielle Purinton, Kelly Ross, Abigail Lee, Tate Lee and Ginny Lee and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, John Thomas Lee; a daughter, Vickie Sanders and a granddaughter, Brittany Baker.

Mr. Lee was born Dec. 8, 1940, in rural Barton County, to Floyd Allen and Helen Irene (Shaw) Lee. He was a 1959 graduate of Lamar High School and served his country in the United States Navy. He owned his own business, Lee & Sons Construction, for over 40 years. He had also worked as a butcher for Bud Dale’s Packing Plant for several years. He was a member of the Joplin Eagles Club and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He married Barbara Hemphill on Oct. 2, 1962, at Grace Lutheran Church and together they reared five children.
