LAMAR- Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Lamar First Christian Church for LeAnn Campbell, 82, Lamar, who died Thursday, Oct. 5, 2017. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, at the church.

Arrangements are under the direction of Konantz Warden Funeral Home.

Survivors include her brothers, Sam Foster and Eddie Foster; her children, Janet Campbell, Lamar, Patti Burnette and husband Jeff, Owasso, Okla., Vicki Pugh and husband Joe, Lamar, Sharon Board and husband Brian, Nevada, Mo., Bill Campbell and wife Tammi, Kansas City, Mo. and Greg Campbell and wife Kathy, Cuba, Mo. and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Bill Foster; two brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law.

Mrs. Campbell was born Jan. 31, 1935, in Burden, Kan., to William Clarence and Mary Lucille (Cunningham) Foster.

She had attended college prior to getting married and starting a family and completed her elementary education degree at Missouri Southern State College in 1977. She worked many years in the area of special education and later retired from the Lamar Vo-Tech School. She was an accomplished writer and authored many devotionals, magazine articles and books. Her first novel was published at the age of 75 and she went on to publish a series of children’s mystery novels.

She was active at the First Christian Church in Lamar for many years, having served in the bus ministry and teaching in the children’s ministry. She, along with her husband, were Ombudsmen at Truman Healthcare in Lamar for over 25 years.

She was active in Barton County Retired Educators, Highway Wives and Christian Writer’s Fellowship. She was selected as the Missouri Mother of the Year in 1997.

She married Oliver Willard “Bud” Campell on June 12, 1955, in Cabool. He preceded her in death.
