RURAL LAMAR- Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Daniel Funeral Home for Vera Marie Leivan, 77, rural Lamar, who died unexpectedly on Monday, Dec. 11, 2017, at Freeman West Hospital, following a short illness. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday and prior to the service on Friday, beginning at 1 p.m.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Leivan family, in care of the funeral home.

Survivors include two sons Aaron Leivan and Brandon Leivan, both of Lamar; a brother, Lawrence Hill, Butler; two sisters, Mary Ann Daniels, Sherman, Texas and Jeanne Hultman, Wichita, Kan.; her grandchildren, Destinee, Arianna, Aaron, Hailey and Aleea, as well as many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Anna Marie Leslie; her husband, Ron in 1996 and a son, Brett, in 1997.

Mrs. Leivan was born March 16, 1940, in Fort Scott, Kan. She grew up in the Kansas City area and was a graduate of Raytown High School. Always creative and personable, she excelled and enjoyed working for Hallmark Cards in Kansas City for many years. She married Ron Leivan in 1972 and they made their home and reared their sons in Barton County. In Lamar, she had worked for KHST Radio, various convenience stores and was an in-home caretaker. Her home was always warm and welcoming and her greatest job was found in family and friends. She was at home in nature, whether working in her flower gardens, fishing or just taking a walk with her faithful dog, Duke. She had a knack for photography and completed beautiful embroidery projects to be shared.
