LAMAR- Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Daniel Funeral Home for Glenn Graydon Williams, 93, Lamar, who died at his home on Tuesday, March 6, 2018. Burial will be in Nashville Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home.

Contributions are suggested to L.I.F.E., in care of the funeral home.

Survivors include a son, Rick Williams and wife Denise, Lamar; a daughter, Susan Anderson and husband Pat, Webb City; six grandchildren, Dr. Jeffrey Anderson and wife, Dr. Rose, Jennifer Koehler and husband John, Jessica Koehler and husband Joel, Dr. Holly Ford and husband Dr. Rev. Brian, Dr. Joni Splett and husband Matt and Kelly Williams and 14 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Williams and a sister, Dorothy Troyer.

Mr. Williams was born Jan. 20, 1925, in Medoc, to Thomas and Saleta (Morrison) Williams. He was a 1943 graduate of Carl Junction High School and served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Midway.

He furthered his education at Kansas State Teachers College and taught school in Alba and Liberal before becoming principal in Conway. He then went on to be superintendent of Bronaugh and superintendent of Jasper for four years at each school. In 1968 he and his family moved to Lamar, where she served as the school superintendent until his retirement in 1985.

He served as the “self-appointed” mayor of Medoc, attended First Baptist Church, Lamar, taught Sunday school, enjoyed golf, baseball and coaching. He was a huge fan of St. Louis Cardinal baseball, always looked forward to the Big 8 Basketball Tournament and was a devoted fan of Lamar athletic teams.

He married Margaret Lavon Tucker on July 11, 1945. She died in 2009.
